Our Fishing Adventure!!

We finally decided to take advantage of Denver's great outdoors this past weekend and we had a blast.

Some of you may know this but Josh loves fishing. He really enjoys fly fishing but he doesn't have his pole here, so we just got him a regular fishing pole. I don't know much about fishing hence the term "regular fishing pole."

We found a lake Saturday morning at (now this is a mouth full) Bear Creek Lake Park. Something Josh and I found very interesting is that Denver is full of outdoorsy people. When we got to the lake it wasn't too bad but after a while more and more people came, it got so full that there were people sitting right next to us fishing. I guess in the fishing world it's not polite to sit right next to people due to the fact that your lines could get tangled. Needless to say, next time we will find a less populated area to fish. Not only do they fish here but there are bikers, joggers, dog walking (everyone has a dog), boating, etc. I'm not saying anything bad about these things I think it's great and I really admire bikers and how far they can go but when it gets to the point when they think that they are vehicles and can use the road as if they were cars, I'm sorry but that's when I have to draw the line. We could barely get out of the park because there were so many bikers. Sorry in advance for the lengthy post.
This is Ayva making her way to our little camp site.

If you notice the tall grass is kind of in her way and she would gently take the grass and move it around her and say, "Sowee, grass, sowee."

Here we are trying to find a good place to fish. And Cheyenne just hanging out in her carrier.

He decided it wasn't a good spot.

We found a spot and Ayva found her fishing pole. She was imitating her daddy.

Here's Cheyenne, again just hanging out in her carrier.

Ayva found some friends and I gave her some bread to feed them.

In this one the goose snatched the bread right out of her hand and got her little fingers in the process. It scared her and she didn't like them anymore.

So Ayva ran back to me, stuck her hand out and said "no goose! STOP!"

And here is Cheyenne just hanging out. That's pretty much what she did the whole time.

After being in this spot for a few minutes, Josh caught one.

Now that didn't look very good to, having the rope through it's mouth and coming out the gills (I think that's what it's coming out of). So the fishing was just hanging out with us in the water.

Cheyenne finally got out of her chair, wanting to be apart of it all. Ayva eating chips and Cheyenne wanting my water.

And Ayva fishing with her pole all by herself.

Here she is trying to cast it.

Ayva watching daddy fish.

Ayva likes her new camping chair. She noticed the ducks coming her way.

Here's Cheyenne again back in her carrier. It was nice that she liked being in there because it was really sunny out and hardly any clouds.

And here's Ayva carrying her chair back to the car, what a big girl.

What a good looking arm, huh!!! This is what happens when you put sunscreen on your kids and neglect to put it on yourself. Yes it does feel as bad as it looks. The right side of my neck looks just like that. Yes, it is very painful.

And this was the lovely greeting I got in the refrigerator while I was preparing dinner last night. Nice, huh!!! Very funny Josh!

First of all, camping is cool. I never thought I would say it but my girls love it and we plan on doing a little more of it this summer.

As for the fish head...eeeewwwww! I wouldn't have found that very funny.

Gross to two things: your arm and the fish head! I always feel for people when they are bright red! I hate that. I am all about SPF 80. They make that these days you know. :) Or do I have to send you some in the mail??

you might need to send me some Steph! HaHa Just kidding!!

I never would have guessed that YOU would go fishing! I can not picture that one. . . Oh, the things we do for our husbands!! ;) And I do the exact same thing. . . my girls are lathered up in SPF 50 and I forget to put any on myself. Smart! I guess it just shows where our priorities are though, right?

It sounds like a really fun fishing trip. I am glad you found a place to go. You can come fishing and camping with us anytime! I doubt we'll see any geese though. Seriously, we need to plan a camping trip.

Love the fish head! I totally agree that it is awesome that we all have been able to keep in touch since the Rick's days! We had so much fun back then, and I really hope we can all get together at sometime down the road and have more fun times together. I miss you Lacey and am so happy for you that all is well with you!
Loves, Merr

Miss Ayva looks like she is having a great adventure and mimmicking her dad. Would love to have seen and heard her with the geese. She looks so big carrying her camping chair.

Sounds like a fun fishing trip. Too bad the duck got Ayva and scared her from feeding them anymore. It's cool that you guys get out and do these things even with the such a little baby, it sets good habits.

Darrin and Josh used to go fly fishing every so often together, you'll have to ask Josh to tell you about when he and Darrin were fishing once and something about Josh falling out of a tree or something (maybe he was looking for fish up there?)
